Bald Eagle - Otter Lakes Regional Park, consisting of 862 acres, is located in White Bear Township in the northeast corner of Ramsey County. The park is a large natural area in a developing suburban neighborhood. The park's extensive woods, wetlands and grasslands provide habitat for many species of wildlife, including deer, fox, beaver, bluebirds and owls. Relatively rare species of wildlife, osprey and otters have been sighted in this park. Hiking trails offer visitors the opportunity to experience nature up close. There are 4 miles of paved hiking and biking trails and 10.5 kilometers of cross-country skiing in the park.
A picnic area, swimming beach and boat launch are located on the east side of Bald Eagle Lake. Bald Eagle Lake is one of the premier fishing lakes in Ramsey County. A boat launch to Otter Lake is located in the segment of the park between Otter Lake and Bald Eagle Lake. This portion of the park includes large areas of wetland and woods.
At the heart of Bald Eagle - Otter Lakes Regional Park is Tamarack Nature Center. The nature center building, which opened in l989, is located on a 320 acre site. Hiking and cross-country ski trails begin at the center and go throughout the site.
