Your membership donations are the lifeblood of Friends of the Parks. Without your support, we couldn’t exist.
Our vision: To support and promote the creation, preservation, and revitalization of the parks and trails systems of St. Paul and Ramsey County for the benefit of current and future generations.
We’ve facilitated the donation of over 7,000 trees within the metro area. As emerald ash borer and other results of climate change continue to develop and emerge, it is more important than ever to replace and add to our shared urban forest. We need your support to continue our efforts to promote and facilitate tree planting in our neighborhoods.
With new developments always on the horizon, but especially big projects like the Ford site in St. Paul and Rice Creek Commons in Arden Hills, we are working to ensure that green space is part of the master designs and is accessible to everyone. Parks and trails encourage community building, relaxation, exercise, and are just plain fun to enjoy.
Time spent clearing one’s mind in a natural environment can equate to better mental acuity and creative thinking. Who knows, maybe the next big technological or cultural idea will be discovered right here, in our own backyard, while the mind is quiet enough to capture it.
We’re working on lots of big ideas already. For instance, the first universally accessible playground in the city of St. Paul. We helped develop the Equity in Parks Tool Kit for the Metropolitan Council. Like Dr. Seuss’s Lorax, we spoke up for trees when the Department of Natural Resources was revising rules and regulations for the Mississippi River Corridor Critical Area.
