Surprisingly, the Parkland Dedication ordinance is being re-visited at the St. Paul City Council. The ordinance that was just put into place this fall, and one that Friends of the Parks and Trails argued against because it wouldn’t do enough for parks and would be difficult to administer, turned out to be difficult to administer.
Rest assured, we will continue to fight for parks this time around, as well. The Council discussed the matter at the October 28 meeting and will continue to discuss at the November 4 meeting, to be held at 3:30, 3rd floor City Hall Chambers, 15 W. Kellogg Boulevard, St. Paul.
We encourage the Council to take the time to get it right this time around.
Be sure to let your Council Member know that you are expecting a REAL Parkland Dedication ordinance that will actually mean land and money for parks and trails in our community.
