On August 19, the St. Paul City Council voted on the amended version that Friends of the Parks proposed. Councilmembers Dave Thune and Dai Thao voted to support our amendments but Councilmemebers Chris Tolbert, Russ Stark, Amy Brendmoen, Dan Bostrom, and Bill Finney opposed our amendments. CM Thune then brought up several of the points we raised for discussion. The matter was tabled to the next meeting, August 26, 3:30, City Hall, Council Chambers, 15 Kellogg Blvd., W. in St. Paul.
We hope that all members of the Council will be able to see the wisdom of the major points we raised, even if they were not willing to vote in support of our entire list of amendments. Please contact the Mayor and City Council, asking them to carefully consider the options before them and the negative long-term impact a lack of support for parks and trails will have on our community.
