We Minnesotans are a generous lot. In 2021, we donated $34.3 million to 6,457 organizations for Give to the Max — a record since Give.mn began tracking statewide donations for Give to the Max Day in 2009.
This year’s big day is Thursday, November 17, though early giving is welcome. Won’t you consider adding Friends of the Parks & Trails (of St. Paul & Ramsey County) to your Give to the Max Day plans?
Your donation of any size will help us reach our goal of raising $1,500. That, in turn, will allow us to advance our strategic plan, which calls on the organization to:
- Monitor the city’s Parkland Dedication Ordinance and ensure that developers are adhering to its requirements;
- Contribute to efforts by partnering organizations that are working to advance equitable access to and use of parks and trails;
- Listen to the voices of community members in regard to park, trails and open space issues; and
- Share stories of people who had the ability to choose where they live based on access to parks, as well as the stories of those who lack those opportunities.
Friends of the Parks & Trails, like many nonprofit organizations, has had a downturn in activity since the pandemic. But we are building back: recruiting board members, focusing our attention on specific projects and preparing to host listening sessions on controversial topics in an effort to promote mutual respect among those with varying views.
Please give today! Help us share your story of the value of parks and trails. Access our Give to the Max Day donation site here. Or contact Amy Gage, our new executive director, at amy@friendsoftheparks.org. We look forward to hearing from you and working with you.
