Save the evening of Wednesday, June 14 and join us at the first in-person Annual Meeting for Friends of the Parks and Trails since 2019.
We’ll be gathering at a picnic shelter at Battle Creek Regional Park by 5 p.m. and then hiking to the 77 acres of grasslands just east of the park to learn more about this special habitat for ground-nesting birds. We are grateful to Friends of the Parks and Trails member John Zakelj, board president of Friends of Maplewood Nature, for agreeing to lead this tour.
Don’t care to walk? Relax at the picnic shelter (just south of the Water Works area) and visit with some of our board members. A light dinner and a brief business meeting will begin by 6 p.m. We’ll elect new board members, review some small but significant changes to our bylaws, query members about their priorities and more.
This is a family-friendly gathering, and a playground (above) is within eyesight of the shelter. For the safety and comfort of other guests, we request no dogs.
RSVP: All are welcome, and we request your response so we can plan for food and beverages. If you plan to attend, email your name and the number of people you’ll be bringing to: amy@friendsoftheparks.org. Questions? Call or text Amy Gage at 612-381-4110 (mobile).
Directions: From I-94, exit at McKnight Road and head south to Upper Afton Road; turn left, or east, and then take the first left at the Water Works sign. The picnic shelter will be up the hill to your left.
